Steam Big Picture Available Now
Valve have released Big Picture; Steam's new full-screen mode that lets gamers access all of their favourite Steam games on a TV from the comfort of their living room. Big Picture has been designed to be used with a traditional handheld controller/gamepad, while still fully supporting the classic keyboard and mouse.
To celebrate the public launch of Big Picture, over thirty controller-friendly games will be on sale until Mon, 10/12/2012, with savings up to 75% off.
Gamers' existing games are all available in Big Picture. In addition to having the complete library of Steam games, each user's account information, cloud files, preferences, and even Steam Workshop content will be accessible in the new mode.
Steam gamers may easily experience Big Picture on their televisions by connecting their PC or Mac, typically with a single HDMI cable. Big Picture also includes a new web browser designed for televisions and game controllers. It is accessible from anywhere within the Big Picture UI, and even while playing Steam games on a TV. It supports Big Picture's new method of typing with a controller/gamepad, which is useful for chatting to other Steam users, entering URLs, filling out forms, and many other functions.

Looks really good, but I don't see the point.
Surely all you need in the first place is an HDMI cable to connect your PC to your TV?
Plus, if I wanted a controller-orientated game, I'd buy an XBOX or PS3?
I guess it's just convenience more than anything; having a single system for all your friends, games, and so on. Ultimately it's just another way for Steam to reach the console gamers who otherwise wouldn't be interested. :)
I just bought a Logitech F310 PC Gamepad from Amazon for Big Picture (and to absolutely floor Scott at Super Street Fighter IV). :P
